Take what you need. Give what you can. No questions asked.
Rivergum Community Pantry is a free, 24/7 community food pantry in the grounds of Revesby Uniting Church.
It exists for a very simple reason: sometimes people need food.
There are no forms to fill out, no eligibility requirements and no need to explain your circumstances. If there is something in the pantry that you or your household need, you are welcome to take it.

Why a community pantry?
Like many communities across Sydney, people in Canterbury-Bankstown are feeling the pressure of rising living costs and food insecurity.
At Revesby Uniting Church, we spent time asking what our small congregation could realistically do with the resources we have. We knew we weren’t going to solve food insecurity, and there are already organisations in our community doing important work to support people experiencing hardship.
We wanted to add something different: a small, local source of food that is always available and has as few barriers as possible.
The Rivergum Community Pantry is designed to complement existing food-relief services, particularly for people who may fall through the cracks, need a little extra help between appointments or payments, or simply need something to eat today.
You don’t need to prove that you need it.

How does it work?
The pantry is located down the shared driveway at Revesby Uniting Church and is accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The idea is simple:
Take what you need.
Give what you can.
If you need food, please use the pantry. You don’t need to contact the church first, attend the church, provide identification or leave anything in return.
If you’re in a position to contribute, you can help keep the pantry stocked for somebody else.

Donating Food
Community donations are very welcome.
We accept unopened, non-perishable food that is within its use-by date, including things such as:
tinned vegetables, fruit, beans, fish and meals
pasta, rice, noodles and other pantry staples
breakfast cereals and long-life milk
sauces and cooking ingredients
tea, coffee and spreads
snacks and other shelf-stable foods
toiletries, sanitary items and cleaning products.
Donations can be placed directly into the pantry, or in the box outside our church at any time.
Please don’t leave perishable food, opened packages, alcohol or items requiring refrigeration.

Donating money
If you’d prefer to make a financial contribution, donations help us purchase food and keep the pantry stocked with useful everyday items. See our ‘Give’ page for details of how to donate.
